The unforgiveable abuse to women

Hello guys, sorry to disappoint, but today's post will be on quite a serious and very tragic topic.
We all know of the term 'feminism', I have never really understood why feminists had such a strong view on the equality of women. I have actually, well before today, never had any idea of how terrible abuse towards women is. I reckon, because I live in a country where equal rights has overcome almost any heartless person, and women have won their fight for equality in the United Kingdom. However, unfortunately this remarkable achievement is not as appreciated in other areas of the world. I have discovered a lot about abuse of equality towards women, and yet I know that there is so much more undiscovered cruel discpveries I have yet to find.

I believe that there are many others who are in my situation, unaware of how bad inequality is in certain places of the world, due to the fact many of us live in countries that have overcome the belief of women being less deserving and powerful as men are, therefore we are surrounded by very little disbelieving  and tragic events which make us aware of sexism. Also, I think that the media focus on extremely unimportant events occurring in the world, and ignoring the importance of attention towards abuse to women, with the very close to no attention or focus of women's rights to equality, many of us are extremely unaware of what actually is happening in the world today. I have came across a list of a couple of atrocious laws against women's rights all around the world, and I have decided to share them with you, to help you understand and discover what I also recently have.

  • ·         In Michigan, a woman isn't allowed to cut her hair without her husband's permission. In Dyersburg, Tennessee, it is illegal for a woman to call a man on a date.
  • ·          In Carrizozo, New Mexico, it is illegal for a woman to appear unshaven in public. In Tucson, Arizona, women are not allowed to wear pants.
  • ·          In Vermont, a woman must obtain written permission from her husband if she wishes to wear false teeth.
  • ·          In Maryland, a woman cannot go through her husband's pockets while he is sleeping. In Afghanistan the law will allow men to attack their wives, children and sisters without fear of judicial punishment.
  • ·          In certain American states adjusting stockings in public if you live in Dennison, Texas or Bristol, Tennessee could get you 12 months behind bars.
  • ·          In Cleveland, Ohio, it is illegal for women to wear patent leather shoes for the reason that the shiny finish of the shoes could help a man catch a reflection of their more private parts.
  • ·         In Missouri, four women may not rent an apartment together.
  • ·         In Memphis, Tennessee, women can't drive a car unless a man walks in front of the vehicle, waving a red flag in order to warn approaching pedestrians and motorists.
  • ·         In the city of Tucson, Arizona it is illegal for women to wear pants. In Yemen a woman is considered only half a witness; they are not believed to be a ‘full person’.
  • ·         In Saudi Arabia and Vatican City women cannot vote. In Saudi Arabia and Morocco rape victims can be charged with crimes as they fail to protect the victims of rape, but many countries will punish women for leaving the house without a male companion, for being alone with an unrelated man, or for getting pregnant afterwards.
  • ·          In Yemen women can’t leave the house without their husbands’ permission. In Saudi Arabia it is illegal for women to drive.
  • ·         In Turkey, all married women must get their husbands’ permission if they wish to have a job. They must also live wherever the husband wishes to reside, and they must forfeit all jointly held assets upon divorce from their husbands.
  • ·         In Little Rock, Arkansas states that a man is legally allowed to beat his wife, but only when he uses a stick that is no more than three inches wide, and only once a month.

I honestly don't think, I have ever been as shocked as I was when reading these laws along with other unbelievably ridiculous and stupid laws, that the women of today's generation still have to face even at the time of 2014. This should not be ignored, nor permitted. This is abuse, we are so extremely lucky to not have to experience this horrific abuse to the gender of women. Although we are not personally affected by this horrible remark on women's lack of equality, does not mean that we should ignore it, everyone can help, in various different ways, you can re-blog this post, discover in more detail the disowning of women's rights and help make these ridiculously, heinous and abhorrent laws illegal, and help give women allover the world the same luxury we receive.

I do not believe that I have become a sudden feminist over night, I, however do not disagree with people who are, I believe that what feminists and women have achieved in many countries all over the world are remarkable and monumental features of history, lets mark more of these amazing achievements in other countries, and help women all over the world earn the equality that we are given.

Please let me know if you have discovered anything, or helped out, I am genuinely very interested in this topic, and would love to hear from you. Please help the world notice unsolved ridiculous problems which are still occurring.

Apart from this tragic topic update, I hope you all have a learned something and will help out and have enjoyed this post :)
