In the post I'm going to evaluate various trends for A/W14, and how to wear them for various occasions, hopefully this will be beneficial and inspire your A/W14 wardrobe!
A/W14 catwalks -favourites
DIORThis show was genuinely one of my all time favourites, the pop of colour throughout the show was thrilling and very inspirational, as typically autumn is such a dull and colourless season, people tend to keep to dark/warm clothes during this period for safety. However Dior have clearly taken a risk with a spectacular pop of colour with these beautiful dresses, with large slits giving the colourful dress some edge. This long, gorgeous and very carefully detailed pink coat was also shown in a verity of colours, and the material and detail of the coat is simply amazing, long trench coats seem to have appeared in many shows this fashion week.
CHANEL
Firstly can we discuss the AMAZING set up of this show? A supermarket with 100,000 mock branded Chanel products, countless outstanding outfits, setting trends worldwide from the first step the model takes and the first picture the photographer takes. We all know who is behind this spectacular event, the man himself, the genius that is known as Karl Lagerfeld. "Karl has a way of feeling things;his way of living is not like ours... in many ways he sees things like a child. Everything is enorme" -Virginie Viard. Obviously with many other very talented fashionistas the show was complete with a reputation that leaves the world speechless from the creativity expressed. I can hands down say that this Chanel show was by far my favourite. The use of the Chanel classic tweed was used variously throughout the show in trench coats and dresses, making a clear statement that this is a go-to material of the oh-so exciting seasons of Autumn and Winter.
The show begun with Cara looking gorgeous in a distressed pink crop top and distressed pink leggings, matched with a pair of trainers and a long tweed trench coat. The trend of trainers was a massive statement in this specific show and extremely admirable by the world.
Up next, a creative use of the commonly used material was styled into a jumpsuit, with a slim waist cut and worn with a high neck under layer, which was also a statement made within the show, and a pair of trainers of course.
GIVENCHY
Now this was another breathtaking show, as the creative use of dark, autumn-like colours were used throughout each and every design in such beautiful detail, on such a variety of materials, from grommet to plisse left the audience gobsmacked in awe. I am especially impressed by the use of fine detail and creativity with the use of furs in the designs. Various colours of furs were used with other materials creating an astonishing look the use of a colour palette of pinks, creams and blacks among others. The speculation of these innovative designs left Givenchy one of the most talked about shows, setting sensational trends for this coming A/W14.
